Steven A. Brown, Associate
With a broad construction background before beginning the practice of law, Steven naturally gravitated to assisting clients in construction, real estate, environmental, landlord/tenant, and business ownership issues. Steven’s clients are often contractors, architects, engineers, suppliers, homeowners, insurance carriers, and minority business owners.
Before becoming a lawyer, Steven spent a decade in the construction industry as a project manager, quality control manager, safety manager, and estimator, responsible for cost controls, scheduling, safety controls, and craftsmanship. In those roles, Steven earned certificates for LEED AP, Certified Weld Inspector (CWI), American Concrete Institute Certification, 40 hour OSHA training, 30 EM385 Government Safety Training, Certified Erosion, Sediment, and Stormwater Inspector (CESSWI).
As a lawyer and construction professional, Steven understands Small Business (SBA) and Minority Business (MBE) utilization requirements, as well as requirements for the Buy America Act. Steven has worked in industries including residential apartments, commercial buildings, schools, warehouses, manufacturing facilities, wastewater facilities, fuel storage facilities, submarine pure water facilities, oil-water separator facilities, and Brownfield Site redevelopments.
Through his unique understanding of the trade, Steven has help projects come in under budget, on-time, with outstanding quality, and with no recordable safety incidents.
In addition to his construction knowledge, Steven has a vast amount of expertise in real estate. Steven buys, sells, renovates, and leases real estate and has a personal understanding of the pitfalls contractors encounter.
Steven has a J.D. from Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law. While attending law school at night, Steven worked full time during the day. While in Law School, Steven was a mentor and tutor to other law school students.
