KGR Partner Bill Bock spoke on a panel discussion at the University of Texas recently, titled “The Real Price of Winning at All Costs: A Discussion about Elite Cycling.” The panel was covered by bike magazine VeloNews. Part of a panel that included three-time Tour de France champion Greg LeMond, Kathy Lemond, Wall Street Journal reporter Reed Albergotti, and Betsy Andreu, wife of professional cyclist Frankie Andreu. If you could take a sabbatical from the law for a year to work your fantasy job, what job would you choose? Ski instructor, to enjoy the outdoors and become a better skier than I am currently. Bock Speaks at Michigan Law School
KGR partner William Bock recently visited his alma mater, the University of Michigan Law School in Ann Arbor, as a speaker in the Experts in Ethic, Civility and Professionalism series. Bock, who also serves as General Counsel for the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA), stressed “the lasting benefits of honesty” – drawing on his experience in the Lance Armstrong doping investigation and case. Bock Addresses Crain’s General Summit
KGR partner William Bock recently gave a keynote address at Crain’s General and In-House Counsel Summit, sponsored by Crain’s Detroit Business. Bock, who also serves as General Counsel for the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA), shared the stage with chairman of Pepper Hamilton LLP and former FBI director Louis Freeh. Watt Featured in The Indiana Lawyer
KGR Associate Jennifer Watt recently weighed in on the case facing Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation regarding its plans to turn an old warehouse into a new administration building. According to the Indiana Lawyer, the school corporation used certain financing methods to avoid public bidding. Eight contractors claim that because the project is utilizing public funds it is “subject to statutes governing public bidding.” Watt, who previously co-wrote an article regarding similar cases, thinks that to avoid violating state statutes future public-private projects will go the public bidding route. Bock To Address French Olympic Committee
KGR partner William Bock will address the French Olympic Committee’s 13th National Symposium for the fight against and prevention of doping on Friday, April 5, 2013, in Paris. Bock, who also serves as General Counsel for the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA), will discuss the legal basis for the fight against doping in American sports. Also represented at the symposium are the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), the former International Olympic Committee (IOC) Medical & Scientific Director, Dr. Patrick Schamasch, and three-time gold medalist and current IOC Athlete Commission member Tony Estanguet, among many other panelists.
